208 children see the light of freedom in one day
The Minister of Labour joins secret raids with BBA activists and former child labourers
 

7th May 2008: In one of the largest rescue operations in the country, 208 child labourers were rescued from child/ bonded labour from more than 120 establishments. In an unprecedented move, the Labour Minister of Jharkhand , instead of passing the order from the table as usual, joined in the raids with BBA activists. Mr. Bhanu Pratap Sahi Created history as for the first time, a minister screened the restaurants, teashops and garages on the streets for 4 hours in the state capital Ranchi and rescued 185 child labourers.

Children themselves imparted a lesson to the noted Bollywood personalities Actress Mahima Chaudhry, Producer Tanuja Chandra, Jasbeer Jassi, the singer and Amit Shyal; Members of Parliament and social activists here today at the FICCI auditorium as part of the Global Action Week led by the President of Global Campaign for Education a worldwide movement demanding universal basic full time quality education for all.

By Hilary Brown (LONDON) The multi-billion dollar global fashion company Gap has admitted that it may have unknowingly used child labor in the production of a line of children's clothing in India.
