Core programs
Strengthen policy coherence and cooperation
This program is concerned with issues of reform, reconstruction, development, support and implementation of national education plans and poverty reduction strategy papers. It is designed to engage key governments in strengthening policy coherence and inter-ministerial cooperation in order to realize universal education and reduce poverty by tackling child labor as a key obstacle in overcoming the intrinsic challenges in realizing these and other MDGs, in partnership with United Nations agencies, the donor community and global civil society.
Build knowledge of global child labor issues
This program is concerned with the issues of building domestic (U.S.) knowledge and educating U.S. youth about global child labor issues, as the U.S. is the largest marketplace in the world and children and youth are one of the most powerful forces in determining market behavior. The program is designed to engage U.S. teachers and children and youth in promoting community activism, building public knowledge and advocacy on the importance of education in poor countries, broadening and strengthening collaborations and building our U.S. constituency, in partnership with U.S. educational organizations.
